We’re here to support you, so you have strong voice, and a partner on your side.
Most of our services also have MOUs with local charities and support services to provide donated goods to their clients directly. Due to financial and human resource constraints, we are often unable to take small donations throughout the year.
Many local community and neighbourhood centres provide donations and goods to people in need. You can find your local centre here. Click here to view a list of organisations that routinely provide goods to women and children escaping domestic violence.
Every Christmas we run a coordinated drive to provide women and children living in refuge gifts they may be unable to afford themselves. This is a large effort, organised by our office staff as an extra to their work. Domestic Violence NSW has received generous support from many corporate partners in the past and we are always looking for more corporate donations to add to the Christmas drive.
In order to appropriately and fairly provide gifts, we ask that donors provide a large quantity of gifts to cover the over 65 refuges in NSW providing service to women and children escaping violence.
We ask for gifts to be:
- Brand new (we never take any used goods)
- Within a similar price range
- Appropriate for babies, children and teenagers
- Appropriate for single women as well as Mothers
- Able to be used within a refuge or safe house environment
We do not provide gifts to children that can be used as weapons or resemble weapons of any nature.
We also provide household items to women who are being re-homed or exiting refuges.
