Domestic Violence NSW is part of a national advocacy group on women on temporary visas experiencing violence, which consists of peak bodies and services across Australia. In August 2018, we are hoping to collect some nationally consistent data on women on temporary visas and their children. Through the data, we want to show that there is a national crisis and that the governments need to take urgent action.
In October 2018, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) National Summit on Reducing Violence against Women and their Children will be held. This will be an important opportunity to bring attention to the issue and ask the Commonwealth and NSW governments to change the relevant laws and policies to reduce the risk of violence for women on temporary visas and their children.
The national data collection will run throughout August 2018. There are two ways your service can participate:
- By collecting individual client data throughout August 2018. Survey available here
- By collecting organisational data at the end of August 2018. Survey available here
Thanks so much.
