2024 is an extremely significant year for DVNSW as we celebrate our 50th birthday. Our organisation was born out of the Women’s Refuge Movement in 1974, in 1983 we became The NSW Women’s Refuge Working Party and then only as recently as 2013 we took the name Domestic Violence New South Wales.
More importantly, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the domestic and family violence sector. As we move through this year and towards our future, it is important to acknowledge those who went before us and celebrate the work of those who are part of that journey now.
We hope to use this historic moment to increase community awareness of domestic and family violence and recognition of the specialist workforce.
Throughout the year we will be updating this section of the website, as we create new content, launch campaigns and hold events. Please stay tuned.
